What we collect
Account information: name, email address, and password for all users. Investigators: license number, license state and expiration, business details, and a copy of your license document, which is visible only to our administrators. Job posts: case type, location, and the summary you write. Messages: the content of conversations on the Site. Payments: membership purchases are processed by Stripe; we don’t store card numbers. Technical data: IP address, browser type, and pages visited, via standard server logs and analytics.
How we use it
To run the Site: display listings, deliver job posts to subscribed Investigators, route messages, verify licenses, process memberships, and send transactional email. To keep the Site safe: detect abuse and enforce our terms. We don’t sell personal information.
Who can see what
Investigator listings are public. Job post summaries are visible only to Investigators with an active membership. Private details you add to a job are visible only to Investigators you communicate with. Messages are visible only to the two participants and, where necessary for abuse investigation, our administrators. Your email and phone are never displayed unless you share them yourself.
Service providers
We use WP Engine (hosting), Stripe (payments), Google (maps and analytics), and an email delivery service. Each processes data only to provide its service to us.
Retention and deletion
Job posts expire after 30 days and are removed from view. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing us; we’ll remove your data except what we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and for analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser; some features won’t work without them.
