Every investigator is license-verified
Before a listing is published, we check the investigator’s license number, name, and expiration date against the issuing state’s public registry. Listings show the license number and state so you can check it yourself. We re-verify at each membership renewal, and we remove listings whose licenses lapse.
Job posts are never public
A job post is a short summary: the case type, your general location, timing, budget, and how you’d like to be reached. Job posts are visible only to license-verified investigators with an active membership. They are never shown to the public and are not indexed by search engines. We ask you to leave the subject’s name, addresses, and identifying details out of the post itself and share them directly with the investigator you choose.
Your contact details go to investigators only
When you post a job you tell us your name, a phone number, and whether you prefer a call, a text, an email, or a message on the site. Verified investigators use that to reach you directly; nobody else sees it. Conversations on the site are private to the two parties.
Reviews come from real engagements
Only clients who have communicated with an investigator through the site can leave a review. We don’t accept paid or solicited reviews, and we remove reviews that violate our guidelines.
What we are and aren’t
InvestigatorSearch is a directory and job board. We are not a licensed investigation agency, we don’t perform investigations, and we’re not a party to any agreement between clients and investigators. Investigators on the site are independent professionals responsible for their own work, licensing, and compliance with the law. Scope, price, and payment are agreed directly between you and the investigator.
Posting rules
We decline job posts that name or accuse a specific person, request services that are illegal in the relevant state (such as unauthorized tracking, wiretapping, or accessing someone’s accounts), or that involve a minor as the subject without a legal basis. Investigators who receive such requests are expected to decline them.
